Abstract

Film industry is important segment of creative industries which emerged as key contributor in global economy. Therefore, in this paper is analyzed and emphasized the potential in field of film industry in Republic of Croatia, both on the supply side and the demand side in order to develop film-induced tourism. In extremely competitive environment, film-induced tourism has become an innovative way to promote a destination and strong factor influencing tourist decision-making process. Tourists today are more experienced and informed, hence they are looking for unique experiences. Thus, this paper outlines the correlation between the power of film as a motivational and image-making tool and the attractiveness of tourism destinations. Also, the paper includes positive examples of countries that have used benefits of film, as well as their initiatives and methods which have resulted in worldwide popularity. However, on the other hand, the paper also includes negative examples of countries which did not adequately managed film flows and did not adopt trends, causing very serious consequences for the destination. Taking into consideration external global market trends of the film industry, the paper explores the attractive force of Croatia as a film destination, and internal resources and disposition for its sustainable development and future competitiveness.
