Abstract
Financijska kriza se javila 2009. godine u zemljama srednje i istočne Europe. Sama kriza je imala značajan utjecaj na gospodarstva tih zemalja. Problemi u CEE zemljama pojavili su se u većem intenzitetu zbog ovisnosti o bankama ostatka EU. Banke koje su djelovale na tom području bile su izložene premještanju kapitala te znatnim fluktuacijama vrijednosti valuta. U okviru rada promatra se utjecaj financijske krize na financijske sustave CEE zemalja s naglaskom na bankovne sustave kao okosnice istih. Provođenjem panel analize podataka odnosno ekonometrijskim testiranjem različitih modela dolazi se do zaključka kako je kriza statistički značajno negativno utjecala na profitabilnost bankovnih sustava srednje i istočne Europe mjerenu neto profitnom maržom, no nema negativan utjecaj krize na stabilnost bankovnih sektora nema statističku značajnost. Strane direktne investicije pokazale su se statistički značajnom varijablom u ukupno promatranom razdoblju i u izoliranom razdoblju krize što podupire hipotezu koja tvrdi da je financijska kriza znatno više utjecala na zemlje srednje i istočne Europe koje su u pretkriznom razdoblju imale veću ovisnost o stranom kapitalu.
Abstract (english)
The financial crisis began in 2009 in the countries of Central and Eastern Europe. The crisis itself had a significant impact on the economies of these countries. Problems in CEE countries emerged at a higher rate due to the dependence on remaining EU banks. Banks operating in this area were exposed to capital reinvestment and significant currency fluctuations. The paper examines the impact of the financial crisis on CEE financial systems with an emphasis on banking systems as their backbone. By conducting a panel data analysis of different econometric models, it is concluded that the crisis has statistically significantly negatively impacted the profitability of CEE banking systems measured by the net profit margin, but negative impact of the crisis on banking sector stability has no statistical significance. Foreign Direct Investments showed a statistically significant variable in the total observed period and in an isolated period of the crisis, which supported the hypothesis that the financial crisis had a significant effect on the countries of Central and Eastern Europe that had a greater dependency on foreign capital in the before crisis period.
