Abstract
Cilj ovog rada je bio prikazati položaj te funkcije Europske središnje banke. Ona je najvažnija financijska institucija u Europskoj uniji koja, uz pomoć nacionalnih središnjih banaka država članica, brine o gospodarskom stanju Europske unije. Europska središnja banka je neovisna institucija koja ne smije biti ni pod kakvim vanjskim utjecajem. Iz tog razloga postoje vanjske i unutarnje razine kontrole koje brinu da se sve odluke donose isključivo u svrhu održivog gospodarskog rasta u cijeloj Europskoj uniji, a ne samo za dobrobit određenih država. Njena glavna zadaća je postizanje stabilnosti cijena, cilj kojeg ostvaruje uz pomoć strateških planova te korištenjem dostupnih instrumenata monetarne politike. Stabilnost cijena nije bitna samo s aspekta monetarne politike već ona utječe na cjelokupno gospodarstvo u vidu financijske stabilnosti. Osim što provodi monetarnu politiku, Europska središnja banka ima i dodatne funkcije koje uključuju nadzor banaka, devizne poslove te držanje i upravljanje službenim deviznim pričuvama država članica.
Abstract (english)
The aim of this study was to present the position and tasks of the European Central Bank. It is the most important financial institution in the European Union, which, with the support of the national central banks of the Member States, takes care of the economic situation of the European Union. The European Central Bank is an independent institution. There are internal and external levels of control to ensure that all decisions are made independently for the purpose of sustainable economic growth of the European Union. Its main goal is to achieve price stability, a goal that is achieved with the help of strategic plans using monetary policy instruments. Price stability is not only important from the perspective of the monetary policy, but it also affects the whole economy in form of financial stability. In addition to conducting monetary policy, the European Central Bank has additional functions that include bank supervision, foreign exchange operations and the holding and management of a Member State's foreign exchange reserves.
