Abstract
Kroz posljednjih nekoliko desetljeća, turizam se razvio u jedan od glavnih sektora na globalnoj ekonomskoj razini. Činjenica jest da se u turizmu ostvaruju glavni prihodi brojnih zemalja, on povećava BDP per capita, generira zaposlenost i sa sobom nosi brojne druge pozitivne čimbenike. No, u novije vrijeme turizam više nije okrenut samo zadovoljavanju potreba velikih masa, sve više se okreće zadovoljavanju potreba pojedinca i malih grupa. Tu veliku ulogu igraju destinacijske ikone, koje će ostaviti ''wow'' efekt kod posjetitelja, te ga potaknuti na ponovno vraćanje u neku destinaciju. Na što boljim destinacijskim ikonama počiva imidž (dojam) koji destinacija ostavlja kod svojih ostvarenih i potencijalnih posjetitelja. Na ikonama koje destinacija nudi treba počivati i razvoj specijaliziranih turističkih proizvoda, kako bi destinacija jačala svoju ponudu te na taj način privlačila posjetitelje. Iz toga proizlazi cilj ovog istraživanja, identificirati glavne destinacijske ikone poluotoka Pelješca te implikacije koje one imaju na razvoj specijaliziranih proizvoda, te procijeniti dojam koji ta cjelokupna slika ostavlja.
Abstract (english)
Over the past few decades, tourism has developed into one of the main sectors on a global economic level. The fact is that in the tourism industry generates main income of many countries, it increases the GDP per capita, generates employment and brings with it a number of other positive factors. But more recently tourism is no longer facing only meeting the needs of large mass, it is increasingly turning to meeting the needs of individuals and small groups. Here, destination icons play a great role and their main goal is to leave '' wow '' effect with visitors, and encourage him to again return to a destination. The better destination icons means better image (impression) that destination leaves at their actual and potential visitors. The development of specialized tourism products should be based on the icons that destination offers, so the destinations could strengthen its offer and thus attract visitors. Hence the objective of this research is to identify the main destination icons of Pelješac peninsula and the implications they have on the development of specialized products, and assess the impression that this overall picture leaves.
