Abstract
Razvoj tehnologije i novih tehnoloških rješenja doveli su do značajnih promjena u razmjeni informacija. Internet je postao neizostavan komunikacijski alat, a društveni mediji su omogućili dvosmjernu komunikaciju između svih korisnika. Društveni mediji imaju značajnu ulogu u turizmu, što je i tema ovog diplomskog rada, kojim se nastoji utvrditi povezanost društvenih medija s odabirom turističke destinacije. Provedena su dva istraživanja, od kojih se prvo istraživanje odnosilo na posjetitelje Splitsko-dalmatinske županije dok je drugo istraživanje provedeno nad hotelima smještenim u Splitsko-dalmatinskoj županiji. Rezultati oba istraživanja doveli su do zaključka da su društveni mediji vrlo značajni za obe strane te da su neizostavan segment svakog poslovanja.

Technology development and new technology solutions have led to significant changes in the exchange of information. The Internet has become an indispensable communication tool and the social media has enabled two-way communication between all users. Social media play an important role in tourism - the subject of this diploma thesis, which seeks to determine the connection between social media and selection of a tourist destination. Two studies were conducted; the first one with visitors to Split-Dalmatia County and the second survey was done with the hotels situated in Split-Dalmatia County. The results of both studies led to the conclusion that social media is very important for both sides and that are indispensable segment of every business.
