Philosophy
Abstract
Cilj ovog rada je kritički ispitati pojam transanimalizma te pitanja i probleme koji se javljaju iz bioetičke perspektive. Umjetnost i znanost proizvodnje genetski modficiranih životinja je napredovala veoma brzo u posljednjih nekoliko godina. Danas je moguće promijeniti životinje te im pružiti korisna nova svojstva kao npr. mliječni proizvodi, meso, proizvodnja vlakana, za biomedicinske svrhe, pa čak i ljudsku potrošnju. Iako će mnoga pitanja o kojima se raspravlja u ovom radu bez sumnje ubrzo zastarjeti, ili biti zamijenjena novima, neka opća pitanja će ostati. Pobliže, uvijek (vjerojatno) će postojati briga o korištenju nepotrebnih gena u genetskom modificiranju životinja za bilo biotehnologiju ili ljudsku konzumaciju, te briga o korištenju vektora s potencijalom da se mobilizira, kao i utjecaj tehnologije na dobrobit samih modificiranih životinja.
Abstract (english)
This paper aims to critically examine the notion of transanimalism and the rising questions of bioethical manner. The art and science of producing genetically engineered animals have advanced very rapidly in the past few years. It now is possible to generate animals with useful novel properties for dairy, meat, or fiber production, for environmental control of waste production, for biomedical purposes or even human consumption. Although many of the detailed issues discussed in this paper will no doubt soon become outdated to be replaced by new ones not yet considered, some general issues will remain. In particular, there will (probably) always be concerns regarding the use of unnecessary genes in constructs used for generation of engineered animals, the use of vectors with the potential to be mobilized and the effects of the technology on the welfare of the engineered animals themselves.
