With the arrival of the information technology revolution, technology has become necessary for the effective implementation of socio-economic restructuring and network development. Technology found its place in the everyday life of an increasing number of people, mostly adolescents who use the Internet to satisfy their emotional and communication needs. However, apart from the many positive aspects of using technologies, such as establishing and maintaining relationships, the negative consequences of the overuse of the Internet and digital devices arise more and more frequently. Some of them are disclosing personal information, contacting strangers on the Internet, neglecting social relationships and responsibilities, and health problems. Accordingly, the role of parents as the most influential persons in the development of their children is emphasized, so they should appropriately monitor their children's use of technology. For the purpose of analyzing the connection between adolescent age and digital addiction, a survey was conducted on 346 subjects at two island schools (Hvar and Brač) and two schools in the city of Split. Research has shown very different results related to the assessment of online behaviors, ways in which smartphones are used, insight into applications used by adolescents, frequency of their use, and reasons for using the social network Facebook.
