Literacy today cannot be unambiguously defined because in the past, as well as today, it is used in different meanings. The understanding of this concept has changed over time, so in different historical periods literacy has received more or less attention, and attention has grown more and more with social and technological development. Computer literacy is one of the most important literacy in today`s world. Highly educated people are expected to have appropriate knowledge and skills in the use of information and communication technologies (ICT). Therefore, the aim of this research was to examine the knowledge of computer literacy of students, and compare it with the results of self-assessment of computer literacy through seven areas among students of the Faculty of Philosophy in Split, majoring in Teacher Education. A questionnaire for self-assessment and student evaluation was created for the conduct of research. The questionnaire was conducted on a sample of 130 students from the Faculty of humanities and social sciences in Split, majoring in Teacher Education. After processing the data, we can conclude that students of the Faculty of humanities and social sciences in Split, majoring in Teacher Education, self-assess their computer literacy in seven areas high. From the results, we can see that their knowledge from the five areas we examined corresponds to their results of self-assessment. The results for the other two areas showed that students self-assessed much better than their actual knowledge of these two areas.
