Abstract
Cilj ovog rada bio je istražiti sustav grešaka na fonetskoj razini u izgovoru hrvatskoga jezika kod izvornih govornika engleskoga jezika. Kako bi se takvo što istražilo, bilo je potrebno usporediti konsonantske i vokalske sustave oba jezika i njihove naglasne sustave. Na temelju takve usporedbe uviđaju se sličnosti i razlike pojedinih sustava i iznose se pretpostavke o mogućim greškama. Pozornost se posvetila izgovoru suglasnika, ponajprije palatala, naglašavanju riječi i provođenju asimilacija. U istraživanju je sudjelovalo šest ispitanika čiji stupanj poznavanja jezika se razlikuje. Ispitanicima je uručen predložak na kojem se nalazi dvadeset riječi koje sadrže palatale, dvanaest rečenica u kojima dolazi do provođenja asimilacija i tekst koji sadrži naglašene riječi. Analizom je utvrđeno kako ispitanici nisu u potpunosti ovladali hrvatskim jezičnim sustavom, pa određene palatale izgovaraju umekšano te ih prilagođavaju vlastitom sustavu, točnim naglascima koriste se u 60,9% slučajeva, a provode asimilaciju u 65,2% slučajeva. Međutim, na početku rada pretpostavljalo se kako će ispitanici puno više griješiti nego što su uistinu griješili.
Abstract (english)
The aim of this paper was to explore the system of phonetic errors in the pronunciation of the Croatian language in native English speakers. In order to explore the phonetic level, it was necessary to compare the consonant and vocal systems of both languages and their accentuation. Based on such a comparison, the similarities and differences of individual systems are recognized and assumptions about possible errors are made. Attention was paid to the pronunciation of consonants, primarily palatals, accentuation of Croatian words and conducting assimilations. The study involved 6 participants whose knowledge about the Croatian language differs. Participants were given a template containing 20 words containing palatals, twelve sentences in which assimilation takes place, and a text containing stressed words. The analysis showed that the participants did not fully master the Croatian language system, so they pronounce certain palatals in a softer manner than they should be pronounced in Croatian language, they use correct form of stress in 60,9% of cases and conduct assimilation in 65,2% of cases. However, at the beginning of the paper, it was assumed that the participants would make a lot more mistakes than they really did.
