Abstract
Ovaj rad nudi kratak i sažet pregled psihoanalitičkih teorija, odnosno čitanje dvaju „ženskih“ romana iz psihoanalitičke perspektive i s primjenom teorije moći Michela Foucaulta. Ove teze su primijenjene na roman Dubravke Ugrešić Ministarstvo boli i Bijeli zubi Zadie Smith, uz uporabu teorijske literature i članaka. Oba romana pripadaju istom književno – povijesnom razdoblju, tematika im nije u potpunosti različita budući da se mogu primijetiti neke zajedničke odrednice primjerice imigracija uzrokovana ratom i nemogućnost asimilacije u novo društvo i kulturu. Dok se Ministarstvo boli više bavi osjećajima nepripadnosti zbog nasilne izguranosti iz domova i država koje više ne postoje, Bijeli zubi koncentriraju se na generacijski odmak od tradicije i recepciju imigranata i „Drugih“ u većinski bjelačkom društvu kao i na probleme religije, tradicije, obitelji i suvremenosti u svemu navedenome.
Abstract (english)
This paper offers a short and concise overview of psychoanalytic theories, that is, a reading of two „feminine“ novels from a psychoanalytic point of view with the use of Foucault's theory of power. These theories are applied to Dubravka Ugrešić's novel Ministry of Pain and Zadie Smith's White teeth, while using theoretical literature and articles. Both novels belong to the same literary-historical period. While their thematical points do not exactly match, we can observe some similarities such as immigration caused by war and the inability of assimilation in a new society and culture. While the Ministry of Pain deals more with the lingering feeling of not belonging caused by the violent pushing out of their homes and countries that do not exicst anymore, White Teeth concentrates more on the generational departure from tradition and the reception of immigrants and „Others“ by mostly white society aswell as the issues of religion, tradition, family and modernity amongst all that.
