Elementary education for adult students is one of the components of the adult education and it is intended for individuals that are older than 15, without finished elementary school. There are many reasons for early school dropout but most common are: lack of motivation, behavioural problems, learning difficulties and difficulties in overcoming content. Although, adults and children have different abilities, needs and interests, teaching/ preceptorial plan and program doesn't differ much from the plan and program for regular elementary education. Developed in year 2003., teaching plan and program for elementary education for adults (Narodne novine, 2003), has six educational periods which include all elementary school grades. Because program is in function for 16 years, changes are much needed and it occurs a need for adjustment for adult learners. For that purpose, there were created series of documents, among them and Guidelines for improvement of elementary education for adults (Strugar, Žiljak, Kušić, 2017). In them is suggested division on three modules – A, B and R. However, common to every program is need to qualify each attendant to do simple job while getting elementary education. It is emphasized, as burning issues, a lack of and inappropriate educational materials and books. Still, during other half of 20. century, there are published series of books for elementary education for adult learners from almost every elementary school subject. Development of the technology is increasing number of digital materials which are also used in adult education. Another specialty of adult education, and so elementary adult education, are authentic materials which relate content of education and everyday life. They provide adult students to recognise use and importance of educational content in their life. With adults, it is important to develop basic skills or competences and prepare them on participation in community and their environment.
