Kaštela is a town of central Dalmatia located between the ancient cities of Trogir and Split. Throughout history they have been a tempting place to live because of the favorable climate and fertile land. What we have focused on in this paper is the second half of the 19th century and the beginning of the 20th, until the beginning of World War I. We started with the October Diploma and the clashes of autonomists and populists. The People's Party in the Lower Kaštela municipality won the election in 1869, fifteen years before it happened in Split and Trogir. Until the 1880s, conflicts remained at the level of the autonomists and the populists, and later political changes and new conflicts occurred. Then some disgruntled people left the party and joined the right-wingers who were much more determined in their intentions. In addition, there is a strengthening of the Serb party in Donja Kastela. Until the late 1870s, Serbian politicians were on the side of the populists, but have since become political opponents. These changes coincided with the economic crisis that followed. Until then, the Kaštela had been enjoying an economic upswing by selling wine to foreign markets. However, with the advent of the disease and the wine clause of 1891, the situation changed and a crisis ensued. The end of the 19th century and the beginning of the 20th century brought about changes in politics. In the 1890s, we still have internal and intra-party conflicts, but in the early 20th century, with the advent of Hungarianisation, some parties began to cooperate against a common enemy.
