Abstract
Lo scopo di questa tesina è descrivere il ruolo e l’importanza dello spazio della capitale italiana nelle opere narrative dell’autore italiano Niccolò Ammaniti. La parte introduttiva della tesina affronta le funzioni dello spazio nei testi narrativi e analizza il ruolo dello spazio nella letteratura postmoderna che è influenzata dalla filosofia postmoderna, dalla globalizzazione e dal capitalismo. Il concetto di cronotopo è trattato anche nei testi dei filosofi postmoderni, Michel Foucault e Henry Lefebvre. La parte principale della tesina analizza le funzioni di raffigurazione di vari spazi pubblici romani nella raccolta di racconti Fango e il romanzo Che la festa cominci e la decostruzione di varie immagini stereotipate di Roma create nel cinema italiano negli anni Sessanta. Vengono inoltre analizzati numerosi collegamenti intertestuali ai film La dolce vita ed Otto e mezzo del regista e sceneggiatore italiano Federico Fellini. Nella tesina si pone attenzione ai modi di presentare la decadenza della società postmoderna italiana e alla critica di Ammaniti all’ideologia neoliberista e alla privatizzazione degli spazi e dei beni pubblici.
Abstract (english)
The aim of this final paper is to describe the role and importance of the space of the Italian capital Rome in the narrative works of the Italian author Niccolò Ammaniti. The introductory part of the paper deals with the functions of space in narrative texts and analyzes the role of space in postmodern literature that is influenced by postmodern philosophy, globalization and capitalism. The concept of chronotope is also treated in the texts of postmodern philosophers, Michel Foucault and Henry Lefebvre. The main part of the paper analyzes the functions of depicting various Roman public spaces in the short stories collection Fango and the novel Let the Games Begin (Che la festa cominci) and Ammaniti’s deconstruction of various stereotypical images of Rome created in Italian cinema in the 1960s. Numerous intertextual links to the films Sweet Life (La dolce vita) and Eight and a Half (Otto e mezzo) by Italian film director and screenwriter Federico Fellini are also being analyzed. The paper pays special attention to the ways of presenting the decadence of Italian postmodern society and Ammaniti’s critique of neoliberal ideology and the privatization of public spaces and goods.
