importanti dell’approccio comunicativo e dell’approccio comunicativo umanistico-affettivo.
Abstract (english) The Master’s thesis deals with the study of the use of the cartoon Masha and Orso in teaching
Italian as a foreign language to children between the ages of 6 and 9. It has been argued that the
language teaching through cartoons helps children deal with different everyday topics,
interesting and instructive to them and also that children seek to identify with the protagonists
who, through various adventures, desire to discover and understand the world around them.
The theoretical part of the thesis studies the main features of glottodidactics, the most important
aspects of the communicative approach and the affective-humanistic communicative approach.
The importance of motivation in foreign language learning is being emphasized and, especially,
the importance of language teaching at an early age.
In the operational part, 6 episodes of the cartoon Masha and Orso are presented and analyzed.
The summary of each cartoon is presented briefly, then the semantic fields and the vocabulary
to be elaborated are indicated, followed by the transcription of the cartoon and its analysis, the
latter being proposed as a didactic unit, based on the affective-humanistic communicative
approach as well as on playful, lexical, oral and interactive activities.
This thesis aims to show how cartoons can not only be a very useful source in the study of the
foreign language, but also in the creation of teaching material. It has been highlighted that many
elements must be taken into consideration in carrying out the activities (age of children,
audiovisual quality of cartoons, messages conveyed and children's ability to concentrate). It is
important to choose such cartoons and activities that encourage the creative side of children,
the ones that, from time to time, challenge children, with the aim of helping them overcome
their limits, even the linguistic ones.
